The Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) on February 25, 2026, issued circular regarding the Processing Fees for Authorization under Bio-Medical Waste (Management) Rules 2016.
The Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board has issued a revised authorization fee structure for Government Health Care Facilities under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016, superseding its earlier circular dated October 3, 2024. As per the resolution passed in its 94th meeting held on February 5, 2026, government healthcare facilities are now required to pay annual authorization fees based on their bed capacity. Facilities with up to 50 beds will pay ₹1,500 per year, those with up to 200 beds ₹3,000, up to 500 beds ₹5,000, and facilities with more than 500 beds ₹7,000 annually.
For non-bedded government healthcare units such as dispensaries, sub-centres, wellness centres, veterinary institutions, and laboratories, a one-time authorization fee of ₹1,250 has been prescribed. Additionally, other institutions involved in the collection, storage, transportation, treatment, or disposal of biomedical waste must obtain authorization by paying annual fees based on their capital investment. Entities with investment below ₹25 lakh will pay ₹6,250 per year, those above ₹25 lakh will pay ₹12,500 per year, while government institutions under this category will pay ₹2,000 annually.
